Burlington County is located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is the largest county in the state by area, and the fourth-largest by population. As of the 2019 Census estimate, the county's population was 448,596, making it the 11th-most populous of the state's 21 counties. The county seat is Mount Holly.

The county is part of the Delaware Valley area and is located east of the Delaware River. Burlington County is the core of the Delaware Valley Metropolitan Area, which also includes portions of Camden, Gloucester, and Salem counties in New Jersey, and Bucks and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.

The county is governed by the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders, whose members are elected at-large to three-year terms of office on a staggered basis, with either one or two seats up for election each year. The Freeholder Board sets policies for the operation of six administrative departments: County Clerk, Corrections, Human Services, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Sheriff.

The county also has various boards and commissions, including the Burlington County Planning Board, the Burlington County Board of Social Services, the Burlington County Board of Taxation, and the Burlington County Board of Elections.
