Michigan residents can register to vote online at www.michigan.gov/vote or in person at the township clerk's office up to and including Election Day. Since Michigan implemented Election Day registration in 2018, voters must provide proof of residency such as a driver's license, state ID, or utility bill. Springfield Township operates multiple precincts with polling locations at township facilities and local schools. Michigan election records available to the public include voter registration lists, which can be purchased for election related purposes, campaign finance reports accessible through the Michigan Secretary of State at www.michigan.gov/campaignfinance, candidate filings and petitions, and precinct-level election results. The Oakland County Clerk publishes detailed election results by precinct at www.oakgov.com/clerkrod/elections following each election. In the November 2024 presidential election, Oakland County recorded approximately 67% voter turnout with over 650,000 ballots cast out of roughly 970,000 registered voters, reflecting strong civic participation in this suburban county. For the November 3, 2026 general election, voters in the area will decide several significant races. Michigan's gubernatorial election is on the ballot in 2026, with the governor's seat up for election since Governor Gretchen Whitmer is term-limited and cannot run. All 110 seats in the Michigan House of Representatives will be contested, and roughly half of the Michigan Senate's 38 seats in even-numbered districts will be on the ballot. Michigan offers no-reason absentee voting, meaning any registered voter may request an absentee ballot without providing justification. Absentee ballot applications must be received by 5:00 PM the Friday before Election Day, though ballots can be requested in person at the clerk's office through 4:00 PM on the Monday before Election Day. Completed absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 PM on Election Day; postmarks do not count. Michigan also allows early in-person voting at designated early voting sites during the nine days before Election Day.
