This office handles all aspects of election administration including voter registration, early voting, election day polling place operations, ballot counting, and election results reporting. Residents can register to vote in Texas online at www.votetexas.gov, by mail, or in person at the Denton County elections office or various other county offices. The deadline to register is 30 days before any election. To register, applicants must be U.S. Citizens, Texas residents, at least 17 years and 10 months old (18 to vote), not finally convicted of a felony (or have completed their sentence, parole, or probation), and not declared mentally incapacitated by a court. Acceptable ID for voter registration includes a Texas driver's license or identification card number, or the last four digits of a Social Security number. The Town of Justin holds municipal elections for mayor and town council positions. The town conducts these elections on the uniform election date in May of odd-numbered years, consistent with Texas Election Code requirements for municipalities. Because this is an incorporated municipality with its own government, residents vote both in local town elections and in county, state, and federal elections. Local residents can locate their assigned polling place by using the "Where Do I Vote?" tool on the Denton County Elections website at www.dentoncounty.gov/departments/elections, or by calling the Elections Administration office at (940) 349-3200. Polling locations are assigned based on the voter's residential address and precinct. During early voting periods (which begin 17 days before election day for most elections), Denton County offers multiple early voting locations throughout Denton County where any registered Denton County voter can cast a ballot regardless of precinct. Election day polling places are precinct-specific. In Texas, numerous election records are public under state law. Voter registration lists are available for purchase by political parties, candidates, and others for lawful purposes. The U.S. Senate seats. All members of the Texas House of Representatives (including the district representing the area) will be up for election, as will roughly half of the Texas Senate depending on district cycles. Denton County offices on the ballot in 2026 will include county judge, commissioners court members (for specific precincts on a staggered basis), sheriff, county clerk, district clerk, tax assessor-collector, and others. Municipal elections are held separately in May of odd-numbered years and are not on the November general election ballot. Texas offers limited mail-in voting (absentee voting). To vote by mail in Texas, voters must meet one of the following criteria: be 65 years of age or older on election day; have a disability or illness that prevents voting in person; be confined in jail but otherwise eligible; or be away from the county during the early voting period and on election day. Applications for mail-in ballots must be received by the Denton County Elections Administration (not postmarked) by the 11th day before election day. Completed ballots must be received (not postmarked) by 7:00 PM on election day or postmarked by election day and received by 5:00 PM the following day, depending on delivery method.
