Ward County is located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2010 census, the population was 61,675, making it the fourth-most populous county in North Dakota. Its county seat is Minot. The county was created on November 8, 1883, and was named for General Alexander Ward, a Civil War officer.
The Ward County government consists of a five-member Board of County Commissioners, elected at-large for four-year terms. The board is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the county's budget. The county also has a number of elected officials, including a sheriff, state's attorney, auditor, treasurer, and recorder.
