The government of Brown County, South Dakota is composed of a Board of Commissioners, which is the legislative body, and an elected County Auditor, who is the executive body. The Board of Commissioners is composed of five members, each elected from one of five districts. The County Auditor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the county government.
Brown County is located in the northeastern corner of South Dakota and is bordered by Marshall County to the north, Day County to the east, Spink County to the south, and Edmunds County to the west. The county seat is Aberdeen, which is also the largest city in the county. Other cities in the county include Groton, Columbia, and Stratford.
