Spink County is located in the northeastern part of South Dakota. It is part of the Aberdeen, South Dakota, Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 6,415. The county seat is Redfield.
The county government is organized into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is composed of the County Commission, which is made up of three commissioners elected by the people of the county. The legislative branch is composed of the County Council, which is made up of five members elected by the people of the county. The judicial branch is composed of the Circuit Court, which is made up of one judge elected by the people of the county.
