From the old mine records
The USGS mineral file records 19 named mine sites inside the city or town limits, 13 of them worked out or abandoned; the USGS topographic mine features add 223 features mapped inside the city or town limits, 12 of them shafts, adits or tunnels, digitised from the old survey sheets. The minerals the records name are construction sand and gravel; Gold; Manganese.
A point in either file is a location, not a property line: the sheet shows the opening on the surface, not the rooms under it. The record that shows what runs under a parcel is the mine map. The OSMRE National Mine Map Repository holds scanned underground mine maps and answers requests for a named mine or an area.
The names that open a link are from the federal mineral file and open their own USGS record. The rest were digitised from the historical topographic sheets, which hold no record page for a single feature, so the sheet and the year it was surveyed are named instead.
Nevada abandoned mine maps ranks every county and town in the state by the workings recorded inside it, names the office that holds the mine maps, and says what to do if the ground moves.
