Registration must be completed at least 25 days before an election to vote in it. The state requires proof of identity and residency, and same-day registration isn't an option. Since 2019, New York has offered nine days of early voting at designated sites before Election Day. A Town Board consisting of a Town Supervisor and four Council members governs La Grange. In the November 2024 presidential election, Dutchess County saw approximately 62% voter turnout among registered voters, with total votes exceeding 140,000 countywide. La Grange precincts contributed several thousand votes to this total, demonstrating strong civic participation. On November 3, 2026, voters here will participate in the New York gubernatorial election, as the Governor's office appears on the ballot during midterm years. That same day, residents will decide races for New York State Senate and Assembly seats representing the area, the U.S. House of Representatives seat for New York's 18th Congressional District, State Attorney General, State Comptroller, and various Dutchess County positions including County Executive, County Clerk, and County Legislature seats.
