The Election Board administers voter registration, maintains voter rolls, coordinates polling places, tabulates election results, and provides information on candidates and ballot measures for all elections in Clay County. Voter registration deadlines are 27 days before any election (the fourth Wednesday prior to Election Day). Liberty conducts municipal elections for Mayor, City Council members, and municipal ballot issues on the first Tuesday in April during odd-numbered years, with the next municipal election scheduled for April 2025. Missouri offers absentee voting for registered voters who will be absent from their jurisdiction on Election Day, are incapacitated or confined due to illness, are caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness, have religious beliefs or practices, are employed as an election authority, or are incarcerated but still eligible to vote. Absentee ballot applications are available through the Election Board or online through the Secretary of State's website, and ballots may be cast by mail or in-person during the early voting period.
