Ramsey County is located in the east-central part of Minnesota and is the second most populous county in the state. The county seat is St. Paul, which is also the state capital. As of 2019, the population of Ramsey County was 535,717.
The county is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners, which is elected by the citizens of Ramsey County. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for setting the county's budget, levying taxes, and making policy decisions.
