Residents can register to vote online through the New York State Board of Elections at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov, by mail using a downloadable form, or in person at the Westchester County Board of Elections or New York DMV offices during driver's license transactions. The registration deadline is 25 days before any election for new registrations and address changes. Acceptable identification includes a New York driver's license number or the last four digits of a Social Security number; first-time voters who register by mail may need to provide identification when voting. As an unincorporated hamlet, Amawalk has no municipal elections for mayor or city council. Instead, residents participate in Town of Somers or Town of Yorktown elections depending on their specific address. The Town of Somers holds elections for Town Supervisor, Town Council members, Town Clerk, Highway Superintendent, and Town Justice in odd-numbered years; the next town elections occur in November 2025.
