About Inyo County, California
Inyo County is located in the eastern part of California and is the second-largest county in the state. It is bordered by Mono County to the north, Kern County to the south, San Bernardino County to the east, and Fresno County to the west. The county seat is Independence, and the largest city is Bishop.
The county is home to Death Valley National Park, the lowest point in the United States, and the highest point in the contiguous United States, Mount Whitney. It is also home to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, the oldest living trees in the world.
Inyo County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, who are elected by district. The county also has a number of departments, including the Sheriff's Office, Public Works, Planning and Building, Health and Human Services, and the Assessor's Office.
