St Marys voters are served by the Elk County Voter Registration and Elections Office, located at 240 Main Street, Ridgway, PA 15853, phone (814) 776-5350. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The Elections Director oversees voter registration, maintains voter rolls, administers elections, and certifies results for all federal, state, county, and municipal elections in Elk County. Pennsylvania voters can register online through the Pennsylvania Department of State at https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/pages/VoterRegistrationApplication.aspx. The deadline to register for any election is 15 days before Election Day. Voters must provide a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or PennDOT ID card number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number. First-time voters who register by mail must provide identification when voting for the first time.

St Marys is an incorporated city with an elected mayor and six-member city council. Municipal elections are held in odd-numbered years, with the next St Marys municipal election scheduled for November 2025. The mayor serves a four-year term, and council members serve four-year staggered terms. St Marys voters also participate in elections for Elk County commissioners, county row officers (sheriff, treasurer, prothonotary, clerk of courts, recorder of deeds, register of wills), and the Elk County district attorney. Pennsylvania offers mail-in voting to all registered voters without requiring an excuse, following Act 77 passed in 2019. Applications must be received by 5:00 PM on the Tuesday before Election Day. Pennsylvania law allows early in-person voting at county elections offices beginning 50 days before Election Day.
