Oregon State Court Records Search Suggestions

As there may be more one source to obtaining Oregon criminal, civil and divorce records, it is important to search multiple state courts to find the correct records.

Oregon State Court Structure:

The Oregon municipal court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor, DWI or DUI, traffic or other violation case. The Oregon municipal court has jury trials for some case types. The Oregon justice court hears small claims of up to $2,500. The justice court also hears misdemeanor, DWI or DUI, moving traffic, parking, and miscellaneous traffic cases. The justice court handles preliminary hearings. The justice court hears jury trials for some case types. The Oregon county court has jurisdiction over mental health, estate, adoption, and juvenile cases. The Oregon circuit court has exclusive tort, contract, real property rights from $751 and up, small claims up to $5,000, adoption, estate, civil appeals, and mental health cases. The circuit court has exclusive jurisdiction over cases involving miscellaneous civil matters, and domestic relations matters, except adoption. The circuit court has jurisdiction over misdemeanor, and DWI or DUI cases. The Oregon circuit court has exclusive felony, and criminal appeals jurisdiction. The circuit court also has jurisdiction over traffic or other violations, and juvenile proceedings. The circuit court hears jury trials for most case types. The Oregon tax court hears appeals of administrative agency cases. The Oregon tax court has no jury trials. The Oregon court of appeals maintains mandatory jurisdiction in civil, non capital criminal, administrative agency, juvenile, original proceeding, and interlocutory decision cases. The court of appeals has no discretionary jurisdiction. The Oregon supreme court has mandatory jurisdiction in civil, capital criminal, administrative agency, disciplinary, and original proceeding cases. The supreme court has discretionary jurisdiction in civil, non capital criminal, administrative agency, juvenile, disciplinary, answering certified questions from federal courts, and original proceeding cases.
