Overview
The Hartford Courant, founded in 1764, is generally counted the oldest continuously published newspaper in the country and is Connecticut's main paper for state government and the courts. The New Haven Register, the Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, the Stamford Advocate, the Greenwich Time, the Norwalk Hour, the Danbury News-Times, the Waterbury Republican-American, the Day in New London, the Norwich Bulletin, the Record-Journal in Meriden and the Bristol Press cover the cities, and the CT Mirror covers state policy online.
Connecticut has no county governments, so notices that run at the county level elsewhere run at the town or probate district level here, and the town weeklies matter more than in most states.

Legal notices, public notices and obituaries in Connecticut
Connecticut requires foreclosure sale notices, probate notices to creditors, name changes, zoning hearings and town meeting warnings to be published in a newspaper with circulation in the town, and the Connecticut Daily Newspapers Association collects public notices in a statewide search. Obituaries run in the dailies and in the town weeklies, and the Connecticut State Library's Hale Collection indexes Connecticut newspaper marriage and death notices from 1750 to 1865. Connecticut courts post case information online, so newspaper court coverage is best used to find the case and the judicial district.
