Overview
Delaware's press is compact. The News Journal in Wilmington, published as Delaware Online, covers the whole state and the Delaware courts, and the Delaware State News in Dover covers the capital and Kent and Sussex counties. The Cape Gazette in Lewes, the Newark Post, the Dover Post, the Sussex Post, the Milford Chronicle and the Middletown Transcript cover their towns, and Delaware Public Media, WHYY and Spotlight Delaware cover state affairs online.
Delaware newspapers publish the legal notices state law requires for sheriff's sales, estates and government actions, carry obituaries for the three counties, and preserve coverage of the Court of Chancery and the Superior Court that national business readers follow.

Legal notices, public notices and obituaries in Delaware
Delaware law requires sheriff's sale notices, estate notices, name changes, county council and town hearings and state agency notices to be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county, and because there are only three counties, the News Journal, the State News and the Cape Gazette carry most of them. Delaware also posts state agency notices in the Register of Regulations and on the state's public meeting calendar. Obituaries run in the News Journal statewide and the State News downstate. Court coverage in the News Journal pairs with the Delaware courts' case search for the Superior Court and the Court of Common Pleas.
